Village Hall Birch Tree
You will probably have noticed that the large birch tree has been cut down and that some hefty chunks have been cut out of it.
We circulated information about why it had to be felled before it was cut down. The reason behind the subsequent cuts was to assess the extent of the internal rot and to see if it was viable to have the remaining stump sculpted. The wood carver we approached, who carved the trees at Long Whatton and Breedon, decided that it is viable so we now have to decide on the design.
So, we are asking, here, via The Dialogue and the village Facebook, for ideas. It is worth bearing in mind that our scope will be limited by the height and the breadth of the tree so large-scale designs that need substantial width at the top will not be possible.
However, we would very much appreciate your suggestions which can be placed in the Village Hall post-box (located to the left of the main door).
